Ingredients

For the cheesecake:

  • 1 1/4 pounds bar cream cheese (20 oz, room temperature)
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest (plus 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice)
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

For the cake:

  • 2 1/2 c . cake flour
  • 1 1/2 c . sugar
  • 1 tsp . baking soda
  • 1 TBSP cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp . salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c . vegetable oil
  • 1 c . buttermilk
  • 2 TBSP red food coloring (1 oz.)
  • 1 tsp . vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp . white distilled vinegar

For the frosting:

  • 12 oz . cream cheese (softened)
  • 12 oz . butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 tsp . vanilla extract
  • 3 c . confectioners’ sugar
