It’s a shame that children and young adults are not taught from a early age how to be mentally strong. As while not everyone will use complex algebra or physics on a daily basis, everyone can benefit from learning how to become mentally strong. In order to deal with the ups and downs that are part of every individual’s life. If you are honest about struggling with mental toughness and self confidence, there are easy ways to work on becoming more resilient. For a few tried and tested tips, simply continue reading below.
Practice thinking positive thoughts about yourself:
Most people are their own worst critics and continually engage in negative mental self talk, on a day to day basis. So if you are guilty of engaging in negative self talk, it’s a great idea to practice on replacing each negative thought which you catch yourself thinking, with two positive thoughts. Just remember that it takes practice to permanently change your mindset and that it’s perfectly okay if you slip up from time to time. However, with time you will find that the number of negative thoughts that you have per day, dramatically decreases and as a result, you are a whole lot more confident and mentally strong.
Look for the silver lining:
One way to get into a more positive mindset in difficult, challenging situations is to look for the silver lining. For example, you may want to list the life lessons that you have learned from a challenging situation, that has helped you evolve as a person.
For instance, if you were not accepted into your first choice of college, that you had your heart set on, you may choose to go to another college which offers a great study abroad program, that will allow you to study at a highly regarded college overseas. In the end while it may be difficult to be rejected from your first choice of college, if you took this route, you would grow so much from traveling abroad and becoming more independent, away from your friends and family members.
Remember that no one else’s opinion matters as much as your own:
In order to remain mentally strong and resilient, you need to put your own opinion first. As part of everyday life, you’ll need to contend with the negativity of other individuals. You’ll even have to deal with negativity or toxic expectations from your friends and family members. For this reason, choose to live your life so that you feel fulfilled and proud of yourself. As it’s impossible to please everyone and at the end of the day, you will only be happy if your actions make you feel happy and fulfilled.
So what are you waiting for? If you want to work on becoming mentally tougher and more confident, in order to live boldly and to live your best life, it’s well worth using the tips listed above, to get started! Especially if you want to want to reach your goals.
